Introducing Tikva

I am proud and excited to tell you about a new orphanage that we added to the Bnei Israel Orphans Programme.   The orphanage is called Tikva (literally ‘Hope’) and is located in Odessa, Ukraine. There are over 300 Jewish children living here who have been either abandoned or removed from their biological families. This is a wonderful and exciting place where the children on the Bnei Israel programme will be rehabilitated and educated so that they can lead a healthy and productive life. They will also receive a religious education so that they can learn about and connect to their GOD: the GOD of Israel.

1024I would like to take this opportunity to talk about life in an orphanage. Many people ask me what it is like in an orphanage. They ask me about the children, their personalities, what they like to do. I will try to answer some of these questions.

The one thing that always affects me most, is when I walk into an orphanage and the younger children run up to me and hug me and ask me if I am their papa. Imagine looking into the innocent eyes of a child that has been abandoned and trying to gently answer that you are not papa. These children long for one thing, and that is to live in a family with a mother and father. They are in desperate need of rehabilitation, as most have come from a very traumatic past. No one can completely fill the gap in their lives or give them all of the love they need: children who have been abandoned and abused suffer from many issues that can affect them the rest of their lives. It is imperative that they receive the necessary services as soon as they arrive in the programme. If given the chance, and with God’s help, these children can thrive and do well in their lives. They are very smart and creative, but they are all too often labelled for life as being defective. They dream of being like other children and they want to be successful. We can give these children their dream by providing the necessary services, education and training.

We need your support in order to give these children what they deserve most: the opportunity to have a positive and productive life. Your donation will help these children to overcome their horrific pasts. 49:22TRUST is committed to helping the lost children of Israel to heal and to find their GOD.
